La policía rusa contra los casinos ilegales
Desde que el gobierno ruso prohibió en julio pasado los casinos y las máquinas tragamonedas, las salas de juego ilegales se desparramaron como reguero de pólvora.
Col Oleg Bolderov, del departamento de delitos económicos de la policía rusa, explicó a la BBC que en los últimos ocho meses han realizado miles de inspecciones.
“Hemos cerrado 70 casinos y 4.000 salas de máquinas tragamonedas y hemos abierto 600 causas contra organizadores de salas de juego clandestinas”, informó.
Un video de la policía al que tuvo acceso la BBC muestra oficiales fuertemente armados vestidos de negro, con las caras tapadas, irrumpiendo en un casino ilegal y encontrando a los empleados y jugadores con las manos en la masa.
En el video se ve a dos policías blandir sus pistolas automáticas y colocarse junto a una mesa de póquer ante la sorpresa de los asustados jugadores.
Sin embargo, otras fuentes relacionadas al juego ilegal señalan a la BBC que las salas de juego proliferan en la capital –Moscú- y en San Petersburgo y que en ciudades más lejanas poco ha cambiado desde antes de julio, cuando la ley entró en vigencia.
Batalla perdida
También hay versiones que apuntan contra algunos policías que ofrecen protección a los antros ilegales a cambio de abultados sobornos.
“Se nos acercó un policía que nos pedía US$400.000 al mes para permitirnos permanecer abiertos”, dijo a la BBC una fuente que prefirió permanecer anónima.

Incluso Col Oleg Bolderov admite que las autoridades luchan una batalla perdida de antemano contra la enorme demanda de juego a la vez que contra sus propios colegas corruptos.
Bolderlov señala que una de las explicaciones más probables ante el aumento del juego ilegal es la corrupción y el hecho de que fuera de la capital esa práctica está extendida.
En el centro moscovita es fácil encontrar salas de juego abiertas al público, aunque de manera más discreta que antes.
Pasillos
Y sólo tomó unas llamadas concertar una visita a un casino ilegal.

La nueva ley, que debería haber puesto fin a los juegos de azar en todas las ciudades rusas, fue impulsada por el ex presidente y actual primer ministro Vladimir Putin.
